How do I get to Bear Lake Reserve?

Is there a minimum stay?
A minimum two-night stay may be required. Longer stay may be required at holidays. The reservations staff will advise you when you make your reservation.

 

What is the check-in and check-out time?
Check In: 4 p.m. Check Out: 11 a.m.

 

What is the minimum age required to rent a unit?
You must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

 

Do you have monthly or long-term rates?
Yes, we do. Stays of 30 days or longer are handled by our affiliated real estate brokerage, Terramesa Hospitality Rentals. Please contact our operations manager for more information on long term rentals.

 

Do you offer any discounts?
Stays of 6 nights or more may be discounted, depending on the season. We invite you to discuss this further with the Front Desk staff. All Bear Lake Reserve vacation rental units include:

  • Fully-equipped kitchens with tableware, dishware, cookware and appliances
  • TV & DVD player
  • High-quality bed and bath linens
  • Luxury soaps and shampoos in each bathroom
  • Hair dryer
  • Dishwashing soap, laundry detergent and paper towels
  • Washer and Dryer
  • Housekeeping Service (for an additional fee)

 

Do you have Smoking Units?
All of our rental cottages and condos are designated as non-smoking.

 

What about Housekeeping?
A non-refundable housekeeping fee of $97.50 will be charged to your account upon departure. Fresh towels and a light cleaning will occur mid-week on stays of 6 nights or more. If you prefer, you may request additional housekeeping services; a $35.00 fee is charged per hour for this service.

 

What do I need to bring with me?
We recommend you bring the essentials that you always take with you when you travel, such as clothing, medications, hair dryer, sunscreen, etc. We also recommend sturdy hiking shoes if you wish to enjoy our nearly-15 miles of hiking trails in the mountainous terrain on our property. We suggest bringing a flash light (3-cell Mag Light) along as well if you wish to enjoy an evening stroll.

You may want to stop by a grocery store on your way to Bear Lake Reserve and pick up the food and drink items you want for your stay. There is an Ingle's and a Wal-Mart Superstore on Highway 107 near Sylva, or an Ingle's on Highway 64, East of Highway 107, in Cashiers. We are just 12 miles from either location.

 

Do you allow pets?
We have limited availability of units that allow pets. If you would like to bring your pet, please make this request at the time you make your reservation. The Reservations staff will do its best to secure a pet-friendly cottage or condo for you. There is a $75.00 non-refundable pet fee.

 

Are Internet, phones and long-distance calling available in every rental unit?
Every rental unit has local telephone service. If you plan to make long-distance phone calls from your rental unit, bring a long-distance calling card with you. High-speed Internet access is available in many rental units. Inquire at time of reservation. Wireless Internet (WiFi) service is available at the Greeter's Cottage where you can enjoy surfing the Net while listening to the crackling fireplace. Cellular phone coverage is limited due to the mountainous terrain of the area. Certain wireless carriers provide stronger signal strength than others; inquire at the Greeter's Cottage when making your reservation.

 

Is there WiFi access at Bear Lake Reserve?
Some units have high-speed Internet access; WiFi access is available at the Greeter's Cottage.

 

What kinds of activities does Bear Lake Reserve provide? Is there a cost for these activities?
Our Lake Club, located lakeside on Bear Creek Lake, is the hub of the resort. Here, you will find a main pool, splash pool, two hot tubs, fitness center, locker rooms, library, 20-seat theater, and adult and children's activity rooms-all available to our rental guests at no additional charge.

Also at the Lake Club are spa treatment rooms with a selection of spa services available by appointment, and a full-service lounge and restaurant serving delicious regional cuisine in an upscale, yet casual atmosphere. We also have an extensive hiking trail system-nearly 15 miles of trails for all levels from beginner to advanced. We also have other amenities; please see the Amenities and Dining section of this website for more information. Some examples of planned activities are champagne cruises, family movie nights, guided nature hikes and s'mores around the campfire. Please inquire about upcoming events when making your reservation. Some activities, such as the champagne cruise, require a reservation as well as payment of a nominal fee.

 

What else is there to do at Bear Lake Reserve?
In addition to the activities within our Lake Club, we also offer boats, canoes and kayaks for rent. You may also enjoy fishing and swimming in Bear Creek Lake. Please see the Amenities and Dining section of this website for additional information about things to do at Bear Lake Reserve and the surrounding area.

 

Are there places to eat without having to go into town?
Yes, our restaurant and full-service lounge at the Lake Club are the perfect places to relax and unwind, with delicious favorites as well as fresh regional fare. The restaurant and lounge are open for lunch and dinner. Reservations are preferred if dining in the restaurant. Check the activities calendar for seasonal hours of operation and availability.
